excited or upset; restless, uneasy, or timid: Are you nervous about staying alone at

prowl |
1. go about slowly and secretly hunting for something to
eat or steal: Many wild animals prowl at night. 2. wander:
he got up and prowled about his room. |

hollow |
1. with nothing inside; empty. A tube or pipe is
hollow. 2. a place lower than the parts around it. 3. take out the
inside parts: We hollowed out a pumpkin. |

glow |
1. the shine that comes from something that is hot or
bright: There was a glow in the sky from the city lights. 2. shine with
a bright, warm color: See how the fire glows. |

borrow |
get something from a person to use just for a while: He
borrowed my book. |

pronoun |
word used to indicate without naming; word used instead of a
noun. In "John did not like to go because he was sick," he is a pronoun
used in the second part of the sentence to avoid repeating John. |

material turned to dust by pounding or grinding it.
Powder feels soft. |

1. a very high hill. 2. of a mountain: Mountain air is fresh. |

1. not deep: shallow water, a shallow dish.
2. lacking depth or thought, knowledge, feeling, etc.: a shallow mind. |

closely: He narrowly missed being hit by the ball. |
