6-23 Spelling Tip

Antonyms
A word that means the opposite of another word is called an antonym.
Big and little, hot and cold, and fast and slow are antonyms.
There can be more than one antonym for a word.  Small, tiny, and scrimpy are antonyms for the word big.

 

Words Definitions
1. freezing being hardened into a solid (as ice)
2. steaming invisible vapor being released when water reaches the boiling point
3. fascinating extremely interesting or charming
4. hideous horribly ugly or disgusting
5. colorful full of variety or interest
6. drab lacking variety and interest
7. vast very great in extent, size, amount, degree, or intensity
8. small little in size
9. strict permitting no avoidance or escape
10. lenient being kind and patient
