6-13 Spelling Tip

The suffix -or
The suffix -or when referring to people means: one who.
A governor is one who governs.  A sailor is one who sails.

 

Words Definitions
1. governor an official elected or appointed to act as ruler, chief executive, or head of a political unit
2. conductor the leader of a musical group
3. aviator pilot
4. navigator one who directs the course in a ship or aircraft
5. sailor seaman
6. survivor one who remains alive after the death of others
7. contractor one that enters into a contract
8. juror a member of a jury
9. victor one that defeats an enemy or opponent; winner
10. emperor the supreme ruler of the empire
