4-33 Spelling Tip

Compound words.
When two complete words are combined to form a new word, it is called a compound word.
Compound words
are afternoon, baseball, and whenever.

 

Words Definitions
1. aircraft any airplane, airship, helicopter, or balloon.
2. baseball 1.  a game played with a bat and ball by two teams of nine players each.  2. the ball used in the game.
3. wherever any place at all:  Sit wherever you like.
4. fairground a place outdoors where fairs are held.
5. drugstore a store where medicines and other things are sold.
6. tablespoon a large spoon used in cooking equal to 1/2 fluid ounce.
7. birdbath a shallow basin for birds to bathe in or drink from.
8. blackberry 1.  a small black or purple fruit.  2.  the bush it grows on.
9. supermarket a large grocery store.  You pick out what you want and pay the cashier on your way out.
10. bridegroom a man just married or about to be married.
