4-28 Spelling Tip

Suffixes.
Some words require a spelling change before adding a suffix.
Words requiring a spelling change are librarian, hungrily, and busily.
Some words do not require a spelling change before adding a suffix.
Words that do not require a spelling change are wonderful and careful.

 

Words Definitions
1. pianist someone who plays the piano.
2. hungrily in a hungry manner.
3. busily in a busy manner.
4. wonderful causing wonder:  The ocean was a wonderful sight.  She has wonderful news.
5. carelessly in a careless way:  She ran carelessly down the hall, bumping into people.
6. cartoonist one who creates cartoons.
7. against 1.  not on the same side:  The two teams played against each other.  2.  upon:  The rain beat against the house.
8. wasteful not using or saving enough; throwing away or spending too much: It is wasteful to take more food than you can eat.
9. mechanic a person who makes and repairs machines.
10. organist one who plays an organ:  The organist played during the concert.
