3-21 Spelling Tip

Double consonants.
Double
consonants are two consonants in the middle of a word. The double
consonant only has one sound.
Double consonants are in glasses, hello,
and bottom. |

1. the lowest part: There are cookies at the
bottom of the basket. 2. the part on which anything rests: The bottom of

1. more than good: This cake is good, but that
cake is better. 2. in a more than good way: She sang that song well, but
she sang this one better. |

1. go or come after: Let's follow him.

river. 3. use or act as you are told: She has followed the directions. |

get something from a person to just use for a while. |

1. anything round: a ball of string. 2.
a round object thrown, kicked, or batted in games. 3. a game in which
some kind of ball is used: Let's play ball. 4. a large party for
dancing: The prince went to the ball. |
