The Chinese New Year

The Chinese New Year Festival happens on a day somewhere between the middle of January and the middle of February.  It is not celebrated on January 1st like New Year's Day is in the United States.  Chinese families gather together to celebrate on this day.  Grandparents, parents, and children all come together.  They decorate their homes with bright colors, especially red.  They also wear red clothes because red means good luck and happiness.  The Chinese New Year Festival goes on for many days.  There are fireworks and parades.  People dress up in dragon costumes and dance in the streets.
