Leopards and Jaguars

The leopard is found in both Africa and Asia.  Its body is four feet long.  It can leap very well.  The leopard can also swim and climb trees.  The larger leopards are often called panthers.  The leopard is different from the jaguar because it has small spots.

The jaguar is a noisy, heavy animal that roams at night. It is usually found in South America, but can be found as far north as Texas.  It has large spots that make a beautiful pattern on tan or brown skin.  It is larger than a leopard.  It is an expert climber and swimmer.  It sometimes catches fish for food.  It preys on land animals and kills them by leaping on the neck and twisting it with its powerful paws until it breaks.
