The standard way to write a number is with digits.  For example; 25,876 is in standard form.  This number can also be written in expanded form.  You can write a number two ways in expanded form.

 

For example, you can write 7,365,928 as:

7,000,000 + 300,000 + 60,000 + 5,000 + 900 + 20 + 8

 

Or you can write it as:

(7 X 1,000,000) + (3 X 100,000) + (6 X 10,000) + (5 X 1,000) +

(9 X 100) + (2 X 10) + (8 X 1)

 

Write the following in expanded form.

Example: 1,395 = 1,000 + 300 + 90 + 5

 

2,983 =  + + +

 

13,937 = + + + +

 

593,016 = + + + + +

 

7,925,287 = + + + + + +

 

56,847,396 = + + + + + +

Write the standard numbers below in expanded form.

Example: 4,923 = (4 X 1,000) + (9 X 100) + (2 X 10) + (3 X 1)

 

8,295 = (8 X ) + (2 X ) + (9 X ) + (5 X )

 

19,872 = (1 X ) + ( 9 X ) + ( 8 X ) + (7 X ) + (2 X )

 

347,394 = (3 X ) + (4 X ) + (7 X ) + (3 X ) +
(9 X
) + (4 X )

 

5,827,219 = (5 X ) + ( 8 X ) + ( 2 X ) +
(7 X
) + (2 X ) + (1 X ) + (9 X )

 

45,267,914 = (4 X ) + (5 X ) + (2 X ) +
