A bar graph is a graph that uses bars to show data. Every
bar graph has a Title at the top that tells you what the graph is about.
A bar
graph also has a Scale, which are the numbers listed on one
axis, or side, of
the graph. The other axis, or side, of the graph has words.
Bar length is important. The
highest or longest bar has the most. The smallest or shortest bar
has the least or fewest.
Bar graphs may be vertical or horizontal.
Vertical means the bars go up and down. Horizontal means the bars go
across. In the bar graph below you will see two different colored
bars. This is called a double bar graph. Double bar
graphs are used for comparing data.
Look at the double bar graph below and answer the questions
that follow.

were there in Mrs. Wright's Class for Country music?
2. How many votes were there in Mr.
Mann's Class for Country music?
3. How many votes were there in Mrs.
Wright's Class for Rock music?
4. How many votes were there in Mr. Mann's

Class preferred Rhythm & Blues (R & B) music than in Mrs. Wright's Class?
6. How many more students in Mrs. Wright's
Class preferred Rap music than in Mr. Mann's Class?
7. What was the most popular genre of music
for Mr. Mann's Class?
8. What was the most popular genre of music
for Mrs. Wright's Class?
9. Which genre of music received the fewest
number of votes in Mr. Mann's
Class?
10. What is the Title of the graph?
