Decimal means based on the power of ten.  In the decimal system, the place values are based on groups of 10.

In the decimal system, whenever you have a group of 10 in a certain place value, we write it as 1 in the next highest place value.

For example:

10 ONES equals 1 TEN or there are 10 ONES in 1 TEN.
And 10 TENS equals 1 HUNDRED.  And so forth.

How many TEN THOUSANDS in 1 HUNDRED THOUSAND?  10!

 

Complete the blanks with numbers.

ONES equals 1 TEN.

TENS equals 1 HUNDRED.

HUNDREDS equals 1 THOUSAND.

THOUSANDS equals 1 TEN THOUSANDS.

TEN THOUSANDS equals 1 HUNDRED THOUSANDS.

HUNDRED THOUSANDS equals 1 MILLION.

MILLIONS equals 1 TEN MILLION.

TEN MILLIONS equals 1 HUNDRED MILLION.
