Numbers

 

The order of numbers determines place value.  For example, the first digit beginning at the right is the ONES place value.  The second digit from the right is the TENS place value.  The third digit from the right is the HUNDREDS place value.

Look at the following diagram.

 

1    The one is in ONES place value.

10    The one is in the TENS place value.

100    The one is in the HUNDREDS place value.

1,000    The one is in the THOUSANDS place value.

10,000    The one is in the TEN THOUSANDS place value.

100,000    The one is in the HUNDRED THOUSANDS place value.

1,000,000    The one is in the MILLIONS place value.

10,000,000    The one is in the TEN MILLIONS place value.

100,000,000    The one is in the HUNDRED MILLIONS place value.
