You already know that the answer in a division
problem is called the quotient. The number you are dividing is called the
dividend,
and the number you are dividing by is called the divisor.
Practice and learn to use
these words when you divide.
For example: 15 -:- 5 = 3
15 is the dividend, 5 is the divisor,
and the quotient is 3.
You can write a division
problem two different ways.
Example 1:
20
-:-
5
=
4
dividend
divisor
quotient
Example 2:
Complete by filling in the correct dividend, divisor, or quotient.
(dividend) -:- 2 = 7
(dividend) -:- 3 = 9
(dividend) -:- 5 = 3
24 -:- (divisor)
= 3
15 -:- (divisor)
= 5
12 -:- (divisor)
= 4
14 -:- 2 = (quotient)
20 -:- 5 = (quotient)
9 -:- 3 = (quotient)
(dividend)
-:- 2 = 9
32 -:- (divisor)
= 4
8 -:- 2 = (quotient)
10 -:- 2 = (quotient)
(dividend)
-:- 3 = 7
6 -:- (divisor)
= 3
(dividend)
-:- 7 = 7
(dividend)
-:- 8 = 8
63 -:- (divisor)
= 7
81 -:- (divisor)
= 9
27 -:- (divisor)
= 9
(dividend)
-:- 6 = 6
(dividend)
-:- 8 = 7
(dividend)
-:- 5 = 7
45 -:- (divisor)
= 9
