Learn to make change. Allison buys a candy bar for
$0.50 at the
store. She gives the clerk one dollar. The clerk gives Allison
$0.50 change.
The clerk makes change by counting forward from $0.50 to $1.00. She would
give Allison one quarter and another quarter saying $0.75 and $1.00 as she counted
back the change to Allison.
Jill bought a toy for $0.59 at the store. She gave the clerk one dollar. The
clerk counted back Jill's change. One penny is $0.60, one dime is
$0.70, one nickel is $0.75 and one quarter is $1.00. Jill's change equaled
$0.41 in all.
