Some math problems need you to do more than one operation to
find the
answer. When you do more than one operation it is called multiple operations.
Remember to always do what is inside parentheses ( )
first. Look at the examples below.
3 X (10 - 2) =
Do what is inside the parentheses first.
10 - 2 = 8
3 X 8 = 24
(11 + 3) - (3 + 2) =
Do what is inside the parentheses first.
11 + 3 = 14 and 3 + 2 = 5
14 - 5 = 9
(6 X 2) + (5 X 4) =
Do what is inside the parentheses first.
6 X 2 = 12 and 5 X 4 = 20
12 + 20 = 32
(46 - 40) X (5 + 3) =
Do what is inside the parentheses first.
46 - 40 = 6 and 5 + 3 = 8
6 X 8 = 48
Practice doing multiple (more than one) operations.
(9 + 1) - (3 + 4) =
- =
(64 - 60) X (2 X 4) =
X =
(5 X 3) + (3 X 6) =
+ =
(7 + 7) - (9 + 1) =
- =
(25 - 19) X (1 X 3) =
X =
(4 X 2) + (6 X 4) =
+ =
(10 + 10) - ( 5 + 1) =
- =
(36 - 20) X (1 X 1) =
X =
(8 - 2) - (3 + 2) =
- =
(7 X 2) + (5 X 3) =
+ =
(48 - 42) X (32 - 30) =
X =
(56 - 16) + (5 - 2) =
+ =
