3-21 Four-Digit Numbers

Using digits, four-digit numbers look like this:

1,000   2,000   3,000   4,000   5,000   6,000   7,000   8,000   9,000

 

Using words, four-digit numbers look like this:

one thousand, two thousand, three thousand, four thousand,
five thousand, six thousand, seven thousand, eight thousand,
and nine thousand.

 

Look at the number 5,642.  Using words it would look like this:

five thousand, six hundred forty-two.

 

Look at three thousand, two hundred thirty-one.
Using
digits it would look like this: 3,231.

 

Reminder: Count three places to the left and add a comma (,) when writing four-digit numbers.  Example 4,672

 

Practice reading and writing four-digit numbers.  Fill in the boxes.

Don't forget the comma!
