What is multiplication? It is a quick way to add the same number over and
over again. Multiplication makes adding faster.
You have 4 groups of 3 apples.
You can add 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 12.
You can say that 4 threes = 12.
As a multiplication problem it would look like this:
4 X 3 = 12.
The numbers that you multiply are called factors.
The answer is
called the product. For example, in the multiplication problem
4 X 3 = 12, the 4 and
3 are the factors and 12 is the product.
Practice using the new multiplication words you have learned.
Fill in the boxes.
