Lesson List

60 minutes in one hour.

12:00, 1:00, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00...

45 minutes in three fourths of an hour.

12:45, 1:45, 2:45, 3:45, 4:45 ...

30 minutes in half an hour.

12:30, 1:30, 2:30, 3:30, 4:30...

15 minutes in one fourth of an hour.

12:15, 1:15, 2:15, 3:15, 4:15 ...

One fourth of an hour is sometimes called a quarter of an hour.  If the time is 3:15, you might hear people say "quarter past 3 ."

If the time is 7:40 you have learned that it is 40 minutes past the hour of 7:00.  It can also be said that it is 20 minutes before 8:00.   That is why you might hear people say, "It is twenty to 8."

Practice telling time to the half and quarter hours.  Write the answer as digital time.
