In the number 15 there is one group of ten and five ones.
15

10
+
5
When you add numbers you may need to make 10 ones into 1 ten.
This is called regrouping.
For example: 7 + 6 = 13, or 1 ten and 3 ones.
Regroup the following numbers.
7 + 6 = 13 or 1 ten and
ones.
8 + 4 = 12 or 1 ten and
ones.
9 + 6 = 15 or 1 ten and
ones.
8 + 9 = 17 or
ten and ones.
+ 7 = 11 or
ten and 1 one.
+ 9 = 14 or 1 ten and
ones.
8 +
= 17 or
ten and
ones.
6 +
= 11 or
ten and
ones.
1 ten and
ones or 10 +
= 17
1 ten and
ones or 7 + 9 =
1 ten and
ones or
+ 4 = 13
2 tens and
ones or
+ 12 = 24
