2-17 Doubling Numbers/Sums

Adding the same number to itself is called doubling numbers.

For example: 2 + 2 = 4 is doubling the number 2.

Learning to double numbers can help you to learn addition facts.  If you know 6 + 6 = 12 then you can say 6 + 7 = 12 + 1 because 7 is one more than 6.

So 6 + 7 = 13 and 6 + (6 + 1) = 13.

Find the sums of the doubled numbers.

 

2 + 2 = 3 + 3 = 4 + 4 =
   
5 + 5 = 6 + 6 = 7 + 7 =
   
8 + 8 = 9 + 9 = 2 + 2 + 1 =
   
3 + 3 + 1 = 4 + 4 + 1 = 5 + 5 + 1 =
   
6 + 6 + 1 = 7 + 7 + 1 = 8 + 8 + 1 =
   
9 + 9 + 1 = 10 + 10 + 1 = 11 + 11 + 1 =
   
12 + 12 + 1 = 13 + 13 + 1 = 14 + 14 + 1 =
