The complete subject includes all the words of the subject of the sentence that tell whom or what the sentence is about.  The simple subject is the main word or words of the same sentence.

Look at the sentence below.  The complete subject is: "The yellow house."  The simple subject is: "house."

The yellow house sits on the hill.

Identify and type the complete subject for each sentence below.  Next identify the simple subject.

 

The red car passed by our house.
