Sayings are statements that describe our culture.  For example, "Seeing is believing" means you may not believe something until you actually see it.

Match the saying with the true meaning below.

A. Lock, stock, and barrel.   B. Great oaks from little acorns grow.
C. Birthday suit. D. Chip on your shoulder.
E. Eat crow. F. Bite the hand that feeds you.
G. Catch forty winks. H. Every cloud has a silver lining.
I. Eleventh hour. J. Eureka.
K. Count your blessings. L. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.
M. Few and far between. N. Kill two birds with one stone.

 

Getting a quick sleep.
 
Absolutely everything!
 
To find it.
 
Harming something that supports you.
 
Being in a bad mood and ready to fight.
 
When you think other people have something more than do you.
 
Not happening very often.
 
Being entirely naked.
 
Last possible moment.
 
Doing one thing to accomplish two.
 
Usually bad things have a hidden good side.
 
Be thankful for what you have.
 
A small thing can grow into great results.
 
Taking back something you once said.  A humbling experience.
