Sayings are statements that describe our culture.  For example, "Birds of a feather flock together" means similar types of people hang together.

Match the saying with the true meaning below.

A. Birds of a feather flock together.   B. The bigger they are, the harder they fall.
C. Don't count your chickens before they hatch. D. Beauty is only skin deep.
 
E. Haste makes waste.
 
F. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
G. Half a loaf is better than none. H. The early bird gets the worm.
I. Laugh, and the world laughs with you; weep and you weep alone. J. Lightning never strikes the same place twice.
 
K. Live and let live.
 
L. Make hay while the sun shines.
M. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. N. A picture is worth a thousand words.

 

The larger something is the bigger the shock when something happens to it.
   
If something unfortunate happens, it usually won't happen again.
   
This means having something is better than not having anything at all.
   
Take advantage of good things when you can.
   
Don't count on something happening until it does.
   
Take care of a small problem before it becomes a big one.
   
Similar types of people hang together.
   
A picture can explain things better than words.
   
People like to be around happy people, not sad people.
   
Don't count on one single thing and ignore other possibilities.
   
Mind your own business and let others mind theirs.
   
You usually do better than others if you get there ahead of others.
   
You can't judge a person's character by how he or she looks.
   
When you rush, you don't do as good a job as when you take your time.
